Six markets planned for the summer
After three successful Farmers Markets, Associated Students, Inc. will continue to offer more this summer. The first of the “Summer Farmers Markets” will take place on June 13. The Market will be held every other Thursday (June 27, July 11, July 25, August 8, August 22) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Serna Plaza. The summer market will only last two hours instead of four. With most students being gone during the summer, this decision was made so that the farmers could get the most traffic during peak hours.
The ASI Farmers Market features a wide variety of locally grown produce. Sac State students, faculty, staff and community members are able to purchase their items directly from the farmers who grew them. As a Certified Farmers Market, consumers can be assured that the person selling the products had a direct connection to their growth.
ASI’s Market is also a central gathering place for the Sac State community. It is an opportunity for the campus to come together and celebrate the summer. KSSU Radio will be spinning tunes at the event.
Some of our past and current vendors include: Capay Organic, Boucher Plants, Loving Nature Farm, Saevang Strawberry Farm, Edith’s Gourmet Baking Co., and Dave’s Fresh Produce/Vierra Farms. You can learn more about our vendors by visiting our Farmers Market webpage. ASI is still accepting vendors and there is a sign-up link on the Farmers Market webpage.
