ASI has a long standing Spring tradition of celebrating the Week of the Young Child. The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
The 2013 Week of the Young Child is April 14–20. The ASI Children’s Center is planning two events for this special week: Spring Art Show and the Children’s Center Day on the Quad.
WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD - April 14 – 20
The Spring Art show “More Than Just Scribbles” will feature creations from all the classrooms and the display will be set up Friday April 12 through Friday April 26 on the second floor of the University Union. The art show will include multi-dimensional art pieces utilizing both traditional and unusual artistic approaches! Be sure to stop by and enjoy the display.
Thursday, April 18th is our annual spring event “Day on the Quad”. For this special day, we set up outdoor classrooms in the Library Quad and run our entire program outdoors for the day. The goal is to raise visibility of children on campus as well as to simply celebrate children and childhood. Families are encouraged to participate and spend time with us out on the quad.
