About UsThe Associated Students Children's Center has earned national accreditation by NAEYC. The Children's Center was evaluated by a professional early childhood specialist from the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs to determine if the program meets the national standards of quality early childhood services for young children and their families. The NAEYC is the nation's largest organization for early childhood educators, and provides a process through which early childhood professionals and families can evaluate programs, compare them with professional standards, strengthen the program and commit to ongoing evaluation and improvement. This endorsement of quality is achieved by only 7% of children's centers nationwide. More information about accreditation can be viewed at www.naeyc.org NAEYC accredited programs have demonstrated a commitment to providing a high quality program for young children and their families. The purpose of NAEYC Accreditation is to improve the quality of care and education provided for young children throughout the United States . Our Children's Center teaching staff are continually working to improve and strengthen the program in an effort to provide quality early care and education for the Sacramento State community. The Children's Center is structured not as an institution but rather as an extension of the family - a support system existing in a home-oriented environment to meet a child's emotional, physical, intellectual and social growth needs. We consider ourselves a family support service, dedicated to nurturing healthy people. The Center is located directly on the campus of California State University, Sacramento, nestled beneath a grove of stately redwood trees on East State University Drive. StaffingEach classroom is staffed with an early childhood professional who has several years teaching experience and holds a B.A. degree and a child development permit from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. The Children's Center provides employment opportunities to California State University, Sacramento students interested in acquiring experience and knowledge in early childhood education. Student Assistants participate in continual staff development. Food ProgramThe Children's Center participates in the California Department of Education, Child Care Food Program. All meals are prepared at the Children's Center and are included in child care fees. Meals served include: breakfast, lunch, and A.M. / P.M. snacks. Drop-In Child CareThe Children's Center accommodates parent's OCCASIONAL need for non-contracted child care. Drop-In care is available for both currently enrolled and non-enrolled children. (with priority given to enrolled). Requests for drop-in care must be placed a minimum of 24 hours in advance, and use is dependant upon space availability and prior approval. |
