More than just Scribbles is a vibrant collection of art by the students of the ASI Children’s Center located in The University Union Gallery on the campus of Sac State. The exhibit will run from February 20, 2017 – March 16, 2017 and will feature work created by children 6 months-5 years of age.
The exhibit showcases the beauty and complexity of young children’s work. Viewers to the gallery show with be able to go beyond the scribbles and explore how each mark, splatter of paint, and non-discriminate shape represent significant learning and growth. Photos and descriptions will capture the enthusiasm of the creative process and allow viewers to gain a deeper understand the physical, social-emotional and cognitive development that occurs when children are engaged in creating art.
The opening reception will take place on Thursday, February 23 from 6pm – 8pm and will feature family art activities, sponsored by the Crocker Art Museum in collaboration with students from the Art Department.
The University Union Gallery presents exhibits throughout the year. Offering tremendous diversity in both style and medium The Gallery seeks to consistently present new artists and new visions to the campus community. A typical semester calendar will represent a mix of local, professional and alumni artists as well as traveling exhibitions on some occasions.
