Have you ever wonder what Cinco de Mayo really stands for? Have you ever been part of a one-of-a-kind multicultural experience? Sacramento State’s Cinco de Mayo event is perfect for you!

“Sacramento State’s Associated Students, Inc., Mecha and University Union UNIQUE Programs, are pleased to announce a Cinco De Mayo Celebration featuring B-Side Players and special opening guest Jay Cruz. This event will be hosted at the University Union Serna Plaza; from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Admission is FREE for Sacramento State students and the general public.”

The special opening guest, Jay Cruz, is one of the fastest growing Latino artists in the industry. He is a producer, rapper, singer, dancer and entrepreneur. He is the youngest and most successful Latino artist to come out of Sacramento, CA, obtaining many awards, TV Interviews and radio interviews. He has established his own recording studio, recording music in English and Spanish in different genres such as Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B and House. His musical and business talent along with his musical diversity make Jay Cruz one of the most rounded upcoming artists in this generation.

The B-Side Players are a 9-piece band that honors the international cross-pollination that has always made music the universal language. They use any beat that catches their ear, regardless of geography or genre, to create a compelling, horn-driven, polyrhythmic groove. The B-Side Players have been laying down their own Latin funk since they came together in 1994. Their incendiary live shows have defined them as local favorites with 10 San Diego Music awards. Meanwhile, their albums showcase a band with restless musical intelligence, effortlessly blending genres to fashion their own forward looking, Latin flavored soul music.

Free food (limited quantity), giveaways, and a car show will also be part of the festivities.
