Summertime is here and the temperature is heating up in Sacramento! Luckily, here at ASI we know how to keep “cool”. Whether you want to stay indoors or catch some sun rays outdoors, there are plenty of ways to not let that summer heat stop you from having fun!
Looking to CHILL OUT this summer? Look no further than Sac State’s very own Aquatic Center. Just 15 minutes from campus, the Aquatic Center is located off Highway 50 and Hazel Avenue on beautiful Lake Natoma. They offer many different activities like Sailing, Windsurfing, Canoeing, Kayaking, and Wakeboarding. All of the activities are offered to the general public; with Sac State student’s receiving discounted pricing. Want to try something a little more daring? Then check out Raging Waters where you and your friends or family can ride the waves all summer long. The Water Park is located on the Cal Expo property right down the street from campus! Whether you are looking to float down the Calypso Cooler lazy river or taking the plunge down the six-story Cliffhanger Slider, there are plenty of options for all ages and excitement levels! Raging Waters offers over 25 attractions, a wave pool, winding river, kiddie park, and several dining and snack options. Raging Waters and the Aquatic Center are great options for entertainment on a hot Sacramento Summer day.
STEP OUT and discover something new this summer! The Crocker Art Museum, located on O Street in downtown Sacramento, offers new exhibits and a fresh take on everyday art masterpieces. There are hundreds of exhibits to view and incredible art pieces to uncover. Some of the exhibits that are offered by Crocker are: African and Oceanic Art, Asian Art, California and American Art, European Art, and International Ceramics. If your looking for competitive fun then head over to Raley Field to see the Sacramento River Cats play. Join the River Cats mascot Dinger and show your support for the team! You can get tickets for as low as $8.00 and still have a great view. Every week Raley field has many promotional events including Firework Friday! Want to laugh out loud? The B Street Theatre, located in downtown Sacramento, offers B Street: Live improv and sketch comedy every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Where else can you sit and enjoy a comedy show like no other for only $15.00? The West Coast Premiere of, “How We Got On” is currently playing at the theatre and has gotten rave reviews!

Want to live on the wild side for a day? Visit the Sacramento Zoo where you and your family or friends can meet reptiles and animals from all over the world-including over 140 native, exotic and endangered species! The Zoo is conveniently located near the corner of Land Park Drive and Sutterville Road in Land Park. Now is the perfect time to check out all of the new renovations at the zoo and the new additions to the zoo family! Hungry yet?
