In this job market, one must distinguish themselves from the others. It can be a competitive task, especially if you are unsure of what to do. Simply applying for a position isn’t enough..You must have a well-thought out resume and cover letter that sells to prospective employers! Though they are a pain, creating a cover letter that best reflects who and what you are will allow you to land your dream job very quickly!
1) Don’t Be Ordinary
Anyone can apply for a job or an internship. Create a letter or something that describes you well in any type of format that you choose. This can be a personal website, biography or video message.
2) Don’t Mess Up
It’s okay to be a little selfish in writing down your best qualities. This is what a cover letter is for! You want to make sure that you are including information that is true and reasonable through which a particular company is looking for. You also want to go slow when writing and align it well to where it works in not only your favor but the prospective employer as well.
3) Don’t Overdo It
Leave out distractions and things that are not relevant to the job you are applying to. Remember to be direct and concise in your cover letter because it is the only representation they have of you before an interview. You want to stand a part from the rest and claim your individuality as someone who would best perform at the duties requested of said position.
