ASI Elections Updates spring 2018
The ASI Student Elections will see a few major changes this election season. Slates are now prohibited, candidates may apply for an Election Grant, and the ASI elections will now include Presidential Tickets.
For starters, Associated Students, Inc. has allocated funds for 2018 Election Grants that are available for candidates seeking to run for office. ASI will award up to seven grants in the amount of $125. Applications for the grant can be found on the ASI Website and are due the same day as Candidate applications
Slates or “Collective Candidates” are now prohibited in the conduct of ASI elections. Candidates must run independently and cannot endorse another candidate, campaign in their stead, nor run under an identical platform, name, logo, or slogan. Any candidates found in violation, may be subject to disqualification.
Presidential Tickets will start to be featured during the spring election. A Presidential Ticket will consist of one candidate running for ASI President and one candidate running for ASI Executive Vice President (together as a Presidential Ticket). Any student looking to run for ASI President or ASI Executive Vice President must have a running mate. Presidential Tickets will appear on the ASI Elections Ballot as one vote, rather than individual candidates for President, and Executive Vice President. Each student will be able to vote for one Presidential Ticket.
