Students, staff, and faculty are flocking to the ASI Farmers Market, every other Thursday from 10am – 2pm in front of the Hornet Bookstore on Serna Plaza. The market has become a central gathering place for the Sac State community, as it continues to add new vendors that provide the campus with a great selection of locally sourced editable delights.
Most recently the market has welcomed Zena Foods, which provides a wide variety of hummus, dolmas, fresh made pita bread, cheese spreads, and tabhouli. Zena Foods comes to the market from Seaside, CA and has received rave reviews from students. Amy McVay (class of 2014) purchased the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus and said, it was very fresh and had a wonderful bold flavor to it.
Another vendor that has recently joined the market is Nutty Chicks Granola. According to their website, the name “Nutty Chicks” is drawn from their use of a variety of delicious nuts in their products and Brenda’s (the founder) love of chickens. Their signature Cranberry Granola and Honey Pecan Crunch have a nice crunch to them and are bursting with flavor.
Additionally, on Thursday ASI will welcome NorCal Nut Roasters. Their all-natural original recipe uses some of the world’s best almonds, cashews, and pecans, and mixes them with a cinnamon glaze to create some of the best tasting gourmet-style nuts around.
Also returning to the market are fan favorites: Edith’s Gourmet Baking Co, Thimbleberry Cottage Preserves, and Loving Nature Farms. There are plenty of wonderful products for you to fall in love with at the ASI Farmers Market.
