Come out and celebrate Sparky, the KSSU mascot, and the rest of KSSU on Friday, April 15th for the 25th anniversary. The celebration will begin at 10:00a.m. and continue until 7:45p.m. with various events held in The University Union at Sac State.
KSSU, Sac State’s student run radio station, has been operated by students, for students since 1991. KSSU takes pride in offering the best in underground music. Everything from electronica, hip-hop, alt/indie, loud rock, and even local Sacramento tunes can be heard weekly on radio shows hosted by Sac State Students.
The KSSU anniversary celebration will kick off with its studio take over from 10:00a.m. – 3:00p.m. The studio takeover will be followed by a panel discussion with Jim Bolt and Chris Prosio, the original founders of KSSU. The panel titled, “Revolution Rock: The Unlikely Startup of KSSU.”, is open to the public and will be held in the Delta room of The University Union from 3:30p.m. – 5:00p.m. “The main title takes its name from a Clash song (Revolution Rock) and ties in with the student-run, radio revolution (and the fact that most college radio types view themselves as rebels).” says Jim Bolt.
KSSU will conclude its 25th anniversary celebration with a dinner reception from 6:15p.m. – 7:45p.m. The reception, open exclusively to the Sac State community and will include a photo booth, food, and music from alumnus DJ “Mapquest”. This is a 25th anniversary celebration that you don’t want to miss out on.
