My name is Anthony Gibson and I am the CSSA Representative for Sac State. CSSA stands for California State Student Association. You can think of it as the student government for all of the CSU colleges. Each CSU campus has voting representation at the monthly meetings and the association acts as the stance and opinions of all CSU students. The association also nominates student trustees to the Governor of California, who selects and appoints one student every year, to the CSU Board of Trustees.
I am Sac State’s voting delegate at each of the monthly meetings and attend each of the meetings with our ASI President, Monica Cortez. I also sit as an advisor to the ASI Board of Directors. I have been in the position since January and have attended three meetings since then. I have voted on a range of issues on behalf of Sac State, all of which can be found in my board reports to the ASI Board of Directors here, and the CSSA Minutes (located within the agenda for the succeeding month), found here.
From this point to the end of my tenure as CSSA Representative I plan on posting on a monthly basis on my trips to the CSSA conferences, as well as the CSU Board of Trustees meetings. I am a huge proponent of transparency and my goal is to provide as much of that as possible while I am in this position.
Until next time.
