Pop Up Pantry Provides Fresh Produce

Posted by & filed under Buzzed, Campus Life, News.

The ASI Food Pantry provides food and basic necessities at no cost to students in need. Research has shown that it is becoming more challenging for students to juggle the costs of living while in school. The Food Pantry provides food and toiletries at no cost to Sac State students in need and aims to decrease the impact that food insecurities have on the students.

The Pop Up Pantry is a service of the ASI Food Pantry. It was created a few years back with the goal of providing healthier options to students in need. Free produce is provided through a partnership with the Central Downtown Food Basket. Because of the popularity, ASI has expanded the Pop Up Pantry to take place every other Monday on the south green in front of The WELL from 10:30am-1:30pm. Additionally, there will be food demonstrations hosted by peer health educators showing how to use the seasonal ingredients that are given out at the Pop Up Pantry.
