Introducing Student Engagement & Outreach

Posted by & filed under Campus Life, News.

IMG_8973Starting July 1, students may notice a new acronym being used around ASI. SEO (Student Engagement and Outreach) is a restructuring of the former Student Life and Services Department and the Marketing Department.

The mission of Associated Students Student Engagement & Outreach is to enhance the collegiate experience of Sac State students by increasing their awareness of ASI resources and providing them with meaningful engagement and leadership opportunities.

Some of the various services, which fall under SEO, include KSSU Student Run Radio, Safe Rides, the ASI Farmers Market, and the newly expanded A-Team that will comprise 9 student employees in the areas of event planning, graphic design, communications and outreach. All of the programs under SEO will assist students with personal growth, developing civic responsibility, embracing differences, and establishing connections within the campus and surrounding community.

smallradioSome of the signature events that hail out of SEO include the Block Party, ASI Week, Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive, Loads of Love Laundry Supply Drive, Coffee and Candidates, Election Kick-Off, and Meet the ASI Board of Directors. All of the SEO programs will be housed on the first floor of the University Union, with construction currently underway.

With the newly renovated space, students will have the opportunity to watch KSSU DJs on-air as they spin some of the today’s top tunes. Additionally, with a central space on the first floor, students can easily sign up to become a DJ, volunteer with Safe Rides, and learn about the various ways to become engaged in ASI and campus life at Sac State.
