It’s that time of the year again! Even though it’s great to give what you can to others no matter what season it is, Thanksgiving has a way of making us feel especially generous. If you are looking for a way to give back, the Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive is the perfect way to do it.
For the Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive, we collect non-perishable food items, assemble them into student-decorated “baskets,” and distribute them to families in need. Baskets will be given Sac State students with families in need and families in need in the Sacramento area.
Clubs and organizations who would like to participate must register by November 8. Donating pays off; the more baskets a group donates, the more chances they have at winning an awesome prize. The campus department and campus club that donate the most will also be recognized at the end of the drive!
Completed baskets consist of all of the following:
- 4 cans of vegetables
- 2 cans of fruit
- 2 cans of cranberry sauce
- 2 canned gravy
- 2 chicken broth
- 2 boxes of cornbread mix
- 2 boxes of mac and cheese
- 1 graham cracker pie crust
- 1 boxed mashed potatoes
- 1 box of stuffing
- 1 pie filling
We are accepting donations at the ASI Hot Spot on the first floor of the University Union from November 1 through November 14. The ASI Hot Spot is open from 8am to 5pm, Mondays through Fridays; to drop off, just stop by with your basket materials and ask an employee for some assistance to get your donation logged.
On November 15, we are having our November #FeelGoodFriday decorating the Thanksgiving Food Baskets! Stop by the ASI Hot Spot from 12 to 2pm on Friday, November 15 to decorate with us. All decorating materials and boxes will be provided.
