Where Are They Now: ASI Alumni #6

Posted by & filed under Buzzed, Campus Life.

Every year ASI hires 300 great Sac State students to work in the various departments and programs. Each of these students bring unique experiences to the work they do and these employment opportunities often supplement the content that they are learning in the classroom. Throughout the year we will highlight some of these former employees and what they are currently doing after graduation.

HOW DID WORKING FOR ASI HELP YOUR CAREER GOALS?

The experience I gained in founding KSSU (along with 50 other students) was formative. I developed leadership and management skills that have proven invaluable in my career. Starting something from nothing and dealing with perpetual setbacks forces one to rise to the occasion or quit. We did not quit. Although KSSU was a startup, we planned for the future. We partnered with ASI, faculty and the administration to make the station a reality. It was a fantastic experience!

ONE THING YOU MISS ABOUT SAC STATE?

Dean Sorensen!  I am serious, he is great.  He was instrumental in helping us found KSSU.  But, it’s really Dean, KSSU and Unique.  Great people and great experiences!

HOW DID WORKING FOR ASI HELP YOUR CAREER GOALS?

Working at ASI has taught me many things that lead to my career. One being, working with a group of talented individuals collaborating on goals! Another main one was engaging with students on campus, that definitely helped me with confidence.

Riding around in the ASI cart with Jake Peabody and getting Tacos a block away from campus before our night class.
